Directions

For the dough

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt.

Cut in very cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal.

Mix together 6 tablespoons of ice cold water and 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar. Sprinkle over the flour mixture in 1 tablespoon increments, fluffing with a fork between applications until the pastry is moist enough to hold together. You may add up to 2 more tablespoons of plain ice cold water if 6 is not enough.

Divide the dough in half and form each half into a disk. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least two hours.

For the toaster pastries

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Roll one disk of cold dough out and cut into 8 rectangles.

Lay the rectangles out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Top each rectangle with approximately 1 tablespoon of Nutella.

Roll out the second disk of cold dough out and again cut into 8 rectangles.

Lay one rectangle on top of each Nutella-covered rectangle and seal the edges by pressing them down with the tines of a fork. Prick the top of each pastry with the fork 4-5 times.

Whisk together one egg and 1 tablespoon of water. Brush the egg wash over the top of each pastry.

Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
